Bareback horse riding competition – Horse whisperer

horseback riding Horse Whisperer

This girl riding the horse is in her 20′s – her dad just died 44 days before this performance. You can hear her dedication to him just before her performance so turn up your speakers a bit. Notice that it is just her and the horse – no bit, no saddle. She just uses signals and verbal cues, she’s mute – as in NOT SPEAKING to the horse, not as a MUTE person. Oh yeah, this isn’t even her horse. She is training it for someone else,
although she obviously has a relationship with this one.

I don’t know how much you know about horseback riding, but when they go fast, her bum isn’t even bouncing off the horse like you will see. Don’t know how she did that.

    @horses4everblaze understanding your horse is the first an most important thing.. if you cant hear what they are saying dont even try. it’s all about body language. see the video’s of monty roberts and read he’s books. it helped me to do everything with my horse.

    The very definition of “verbal” is to speak aloud. You state an oxymoron by saying she’s giving verbal cues, but that she’s mute in the same instance. So what you mean to say is that she’s giving nonverbal cues and signals.

    @esh325 I think you need to re-evaluate what you’re saying. And maybe do some research into that. My gelding loves being ridden, and gets upset and ignores me if I don’t ride him. And actually, it’s a way to keep horses fit and healthy as well, which increases their life span. It creates a huge sense of trust and bonding between the horse and handler, making the horse more relaxed around people. Stressed horses who fear people have lower life expectancies.

    That’s so beautiful …
    That’s so beautiful so have such a strong bond with a horse. There’s so much trust between them.
    I’m trying to build a sense of trust with my new New Forest pony – he was badly treated before I go him, and has never trusted anyone. I don’t expect to get as far as this girl has (it’s just amazing), but with a lot of time and effort, hopefully I can show my pony that he can trust me and I’m not gonna let him down like everyone else has.
    Just beautiful. Wow.

    @esh325 Look at the …
    @esh325 Look at the horse’s ears. Look at his body language, he’s enjoying himself, he’s relaxed and clearly in his element. If he didn’t want to do this he would just throw her off, but he likes working, as do most horses. Horses were bred to be work animals. I’ve worked with horses that become Depressed when they’re not working. They like learning new skills and finding new ways to communicate with the rider, who ultimately should be part of that horse’s social herd. This is far from immoral.

    This is so fun to do. I ride my horse without tack all the time. We can side pass, but no spins. We’re english girls. We jump and do VERY basic dressage (halt, side pass, backup, square up, etc.) without tack. It isn’t really hard, it’s more about getting the courage to do it, because when you think about it, your reins are two small pieces of leather. Ultimately your legs and your seat control the horse’s movement, and a saddle is solely for your comfort. Although I always wear a helmet.

    I do find it some what morally objectionable to ride horses for pleasure. I don’t think the horse finds any pleasure in carrying a person on their back. They probably don’t live as long either from the burden of having to carry people.
